Greetings! Wow! What an amazing first week of school we have had. I have been truly blessed to be able to see all my students work so hard to be successful. I hope they are also encouraged by their efforts and are excited to tackle any challenges they may face. As we move forward, our weekly run-down will be posted here. A daily schedule will be added to Seesaw. If you have had an difficulty finding Seesaw posts or accessing different websites please email me at cmacdougall@gcspei.ca. Thank you for all of the hard work you are putting in by guiding your child through their learning.
Daily Physical Education Expectations
- Daily exercise and getting outside every day should be a special part of your daily family routine – we recommend at least 20-30 minutes a day.
- An email will be sent home to all families with an activity log template and an example of how the log should be filled in. We will include some activities and ideas to do with your child from your home or neighbourhood. Please use your discretion and follow all of the PEI public heath’s directives.
- Make sure that it is submitted into the Gym folder on Seesaw each Monday.
- From time to time we will be asking your child to submit on Seesaw videos of themselves doing our physical Fitness weekly challenges.
- Making a daily log of physical activity will help you recognize progress In the five major areas of physical fitness:

- Upper body strength (push-ups)
- Flexibility (stretching)
- Agility (shuttle run)
- Cardio endurance (kilometer run)

MONDAY

Pg. 179 – cross out #2
Pg. 180 – For #4 you may either add up the pennies and find the total of all the coins or remove the pennies and find the total of the dimes, nickels, and quarters.
When you are finished with your math pages post them to the assignment titled Math Pages – March 30th. Use the microphone tool on Seesaw to record yourself reading all of the 17 addition family questions from pg 180.
READING
Go on www.getepic.com class code: wcv4314 and click on the collection titled Assigned Reading. Within the collection, read the book titled The Helpful Puppy and answer the questions below.
#1. Who is the author of the story?
#2. Who are the characters in the story?
#3. What is the setting of the story?
#4. What problem does the main character have?
#5. What was the solution to the problem at the end of the story?
On Seesaw, record yourself answering the questions above on the assignment titled Helpful Puppy Questions. In a separate assignment titled Favourite Part, record yourself reading your favourite page of the story.
LANGUAGE:
Go on the assignment titled Noun Hunt on Seesaw. Circle all of the nouns on the page. Do not circle any words that are not nouns.
Reminder: a noun is a person, place, or thing.

SCIENCE: Students will watch a short video about the cold & flu, then conduct an experiment that teaches them what happens to “germs” when we wash our hands with soap. Mrs. MacNeill cannot wait to see your experiment photos and videos.
Gym – Start your first week’s log of daily activity. An email was sent to parents with a downloadable file to fill in every weekday. This will be due Monday, April 6th.

Write a cinquain about a person or animal. Watch the video attached to the assignment titled Cinquain Presentation before writing your cinquain to help you remember how to write one. After you are finished, post a video of you reading your cinquain to the assignment mentioned.

Pick a non-fiction book from the Genius Hour collection on getepic.com. (Code: wcv4314) Use the microphone on Seesaw to record yourself reading about your topic and post it to the assignment titled Non-fiction Reading. Your video should be between 2-3 minutes in length.
LANGUAGE
Using your research from your non-fiction reading. Make a poster of facts about your topic. Be sure to include lots of interesting information.
On Seesaw, present what you found by adding a video to the assignment titled Non-fiction Presentation.
Also, complete the following language page 33 and post a picture of your work to Seesaw under the assignment titled Language Pages – April 1st.

Students will need paper, pencil, crayons,colored pencils or markers, small toys or other small objects and a light source (early morning or late afternoon sun or a lamp or a flashlight) for our project today.
Students should begin to collect things like paper towel and toilet paper tubes, egg cartons, tissue and cereal boxes, clean milk jugs/cartons, juice cans/containers, etc. for upcoming art projects.

We will begin using Spelling list #19 for our Language activities. For today, use the first six words to write a short story about going to the beach. The first six words are: fountain, big, nature, glare, careful, small. Post a picture of your story to the assignment titled Going to the Beach and use the microphone tool to read it.
