Week of Sept. 21 in Grade 1
Our Grade 1 class did a great job filling in their CAT tests last week. The results of these tests will help identify any gaps from the unusual school year last year. This information will allow us to review necessary concepts and give students the best start possible Grade 1. Our class also actively participated in the Terry Fox Run. It was wonderful to see their enthusiasm. Due to unforeseen circumstances, we did not have the opportunity to take home books from our in-class Super Reader Library last week. This Wednesday we plan on students being able to bring levelled readers home to practice. Just a reminder that all library books are due back by Wednesday at the latest.
Thank you for all the school supplies that have been sent in. One additional item that would aid in your child’s learning is a set of headphones (if not already brought in). Please clearly mark these with your child’s name. Each Grade 1 student has access to a Chromebook which we use at least twice a week. As you can imagine, it can be difficult for students to concentrate if every student has sounds from their activity going on all at the same time. You should have received an email last week allowing you to join SeeSaw which will allow you to see and interact with some of the work you child is doing using Chromebooks.
Homework: This week’s homework will be penmanship pages for the letters “Ee” and “Ff.” Please help your child to focus on forming each letter correctly and neatly. Students will also be given a practice sheet to help them remember our sight words of this week: blue, yellow, and black. Please continue to practice memorizing Bible Verse 1 (found inside your child’s orange homework folder).
Looking forward to another great week!
Please feel free to email me with any questions or concerns.
