It has certainly been a different week. I have been praying for you and your families as clean up efforts continue and power is restored. I am looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow. Please take note of the following items coming up for this week.
School Pictures
Say cheese! This Thursday students will have their picture taken by Lifetouch. These pictures are used for the school yearbook so students should bring their best smiles!
Yes, School on Friday
Please note, that GCS will be cancelling the scheduled Professional Development Day for Friday, October 7, meaning there will be classes this day for all students.
Thanksgiving
There will be no school on Monday, October 10th, due to the Thanksgiving holiday. I hope you all have a wonderful day to be grateful for God’s innumerable blessings.
Dressing for the Weather — a Continuing Reminder
Please be sure to check the weather forecast for the day and have your child dressed ready for the varying temperatures. Keep in mind that morning recesses are often much chillier than in the afternoon. Please do not assume that we will stay inside — if it isn’t raining, we go out.
This week’s assessments:
This week, grade one will begin studying their spelling lists. Tomorrow, you will see a yellow folder in their homework bag, as well as a blue notebook to use if your child would like to practice their spelling lists by writing it out. Students should practice each night, but they may choose from the ideas listed at the bottom of the page.
In grade two, your child will bring home a test fold tomorrow. This folder will be send home every two weeks and will have all of you child’s written assessments for that time. Please take a look at the tests, return them to the folder, and sign the log sheet to let me know that you have seen your child’s progress. Once grade one begins spelling tests and written assessments, they will be sent home with the grade one students as well.
