When COVID-19 first impacted our province back in the Spring of 2020, some of the most vulnerable were left without the opportunity to leave their homes. Many seniors were also left without the companionship of their families, and therefore, they relied heavily on support, love, and generosity of the caretakers inside their care homes. Travel restrictions will mean many residents may not have family members visiting them over the holidays.
We are helping make Christmas a little happier for residents by collecting some basic, low cost items. Grade 2 will be collecting: Colouring books, crayons, pencil crayons, markers, sketch pads, pens, pencils, and stationary kits. Other classes will be collecting other needed items. Students are encouraged to make this a true giving opportunity by using their own money (from their allowance, etc.) to purchase some items to give this Christmas. Learning through service allows our students to move their focus from themselves to the needs of others. Items need to be brought in to school by Tuesday, Dec. 1.
