Hello Parents,
It’s hard to believe that we are down to our last week in first quarter! It has been a joy to teach each one of your students and I look forward to working with you as we go through the rest of the year. Students have earned a reward for behavior and will be having a PJ and Movie day this week. On Thursday, November 4th , grade two students may wear their PJs and take a small stuffy to school with them. During our snack and lunch time we will choose a movie to watch.
This week in Grade Two:
Math: Students will learn the 11 addition family this week, continue to practice two digit addition, and practice combining coins.
Language Arts: We will review phonics Charts 10 and 11. We will review the four types of sentences and complete a writing assignment that uses all four types.
Social Studies: Students will finish their trip across Canada to review the geographical location of each province, and to review the main symbols of each province. This week we will finish the Atlantic Canada region and have a quiz on the location of each province on Thursday. Students will be given a map and asked to label the provinces correctly.
Christmas Concert: Mrs. Wilting has sent out guidelines for this year’s Elementary Christmas Musical Production when it comes to dress code. She is asking that all elementary students wear black pants and long sleeve black shirts. We will be recording our performance again this year, and this will occur during the mid November. Mrs. Wilting has asked that all students pack their performance wear in a Ziplock bag, labelled with your child’s name, by November 9th.
