Dear Grade 1 Families,
I hope you are enjoying the signs of spring! We had a really fun week with building nests from materials outside, doing STEM activities, and having our Teddy Bear Picnic. Mrs. MacNeill also had students experiment, hypothesize, and make observations about the boats each student made from recycles materials. What a blast!
This week we will be learning about counting Canadian bills, the province of Alberta, continuing to practice adding with regrouping, new special sounds, paragraph writing, < and > symbols, and much more. We will also be reviewing contractions, counting out syllables, rhyming words, antonyms, and sight words.
If you haven’t had a chance already, please see the email about summer dress code Mrs. MacNeill sent out. With all the lovely summer dresses, I would highly recommend shorts underneath for outdoor play time.
On Wednesday’s we leave our class to go to Chapel at 8:50 am sharp. If students arrive after that, I am not in the halls to direct them. I appreciate your help to have them arrive on time, especially on Wednesdays.
Homework: Students were sent home with their new spelling list and penmanship page on Friday. Both are do on Friday.
Tests: Students will have their spelling test on Friday.
