Dear Families,
This week we will be completing Canadian Achievement tests (CAT). Please see below for more details. Thank you again for your generosity for the food drive.
Parent Teacher Interviews
Please note that I will be available for Parent Teacher Interviews on Friday, April 16 from 9:30-12:00. If I have not already contacted you, I do not have any significant concerns about your child at this time. If you have concerns but are unable to meet during this time, please email me (ebryenton@gcspei.ca) and we can set up another time to meet in-person or talk over the phone.
Canadian Achievement Test (CAT)
This week we will be completed the Canadian Achievement tests (CAT). The CAT is a testing system that assesses the essential learning outcomes of the following basic skill areas: reading, language, spelling, and mathematics. The CAT tests also evaluate how well students perform in comparison to other students across Canada as a whole. We completed these tests near the beginning of the school year to have more information about any gaps in our students learning as a result as doing part of our academic year online last spring. Doing these tests now close to the end of the year will help us track how we have done in bridging those gaps.
Tests: we will have a spelling test on Thursday. We will not have a phonics or math test this week because of the CAT’s.
Homework: students will be sent home with a sight words worksheet and a telling time worksheet. These can be returned on Thursday or Monday since it is a shorter week.
Important Dates
- Thursday, April 15 – Elementary Parent-Teacher Interviews (5:00-7:00 pm)
- Friday, April 16 – High School Parent-Teacher Interviews (No School)
I am so proud of every student in our class. They have all accomplished so much this year. Thank you for your continued partnership. Have a great week!
