We blinked, and our first month has flown by! I am so thankful to have the joy of teaching your children every day! This past week especially, we have been reminding ourselves to be thankful for everything we have and in everything we do, for it is all from God and it is right to give thanks.
Here are some important dates and events to take note of:
No Class on Monday:
Just a reminder that Monday, Oct. 8th, is a Canadian holiday. We will not have classes. Classes will resume on Tuesday, Oct. 9th at 9:00 AM.
Cross Country Meet
We welcome parents to join us in cheering on our grade 3-6 students as they compete in the annual Cross Country Meet on Wednesday, October 10th. Grades 3-4 will run the 1.5 km race while grades 5-6 will run 2 km. Students are asked to come prepared with running shoes, a GCS T-shirt, layers of clothing (in case it is cold), and sunscreen (in case it is sunny!). Also, students should pack a healthy snack and water bottle. We will be leaving the school at 9 AM and travelling by bus to the Terry Fox Sports Complex in Cornwall. We will return to school by noon. GO KNIGHTS GO!
International Potluck Supper
Save the date! On October 17 from 5:30 – 7:30 pm, all Grace Christian School and Grace Baptist Church families are welcome to join us for our fall potluck supper. Families that attend should bring a dish to share that will feed 6 – 8 people. If your last name begins with A – L, we ask that you bring a dessert or salad to share. If your last name begins with M – Z, please bring a main dish to share. GCS will supply the drinks and fun! There will ice-breaker games and prizes for getting to know the most new friends.
Oct 10 – Elementary Cross Country
Oct 15 – 19 – Science & Technology Week
Oct 17 – International Potluck
Oct 19 – School Pictures
Oct 25-26 – ACSI Teacher Convention- No Class
Assessments this week:
Tuesday — Language Test 2
Thursday — Math Test 3
Friday — Spelling Test 5 (Please make sure that your child is studying the spelling words every night. The words can be written 3 times, spelled out loud, written out and cut up to be put back together like a puzzle, or use the alternative homework spelling activities at the top of the spelling page.)
Also, please remember that your child has Bible memory work every day. Grade Three students are currently learning to recite the books of the Old Testament. Each student has a sheet at school as well as a practice sheet that was taken home at the beginning of the week for home practice.
Happy Thanksgiving to you all!
