Another great week has passed, and there is much to be thankful for as we draw closer to Thanksgiving. Please take note of the following announcements:
Elementary Cross-Country Event:
Students in grades 3-6 will be participating in an upcoming Cross Country Meet on Monday, October 7th. We welcome parents to join us in cheering on our students as they compete. Grades 3-4 will run the 1.5 km race while grades 5-6 will run 2 km. Students are asked to come prepared with running shoes, a GCS T-shirt, layers of clothing in case it is cold. Also, students should pack a healthy snack and water bottle. We will be leaving the school at 9 AM and travelling by bus to the Terry Fox Sports Complex in Cornwall. Some parent volunteers would be helpful as we will not all fit on the bus. We will return to school by noon. Please return the permission form to your child’s homeroom teacher by Monday at 9 AM if you have not already done so.
Fall Pictures:
All GCS students will have their fall pictures taken on Thursday, Oct 10th. Proofs will be sent home in the coming weeks.
PD Day- No Classes
A reminder that this coming Friday, October 11th, students will not have classes as the teachers from GCS participate in a professional development day.
Morning Reading
It is said that leaders are readers. Part of our morning routine in Grade 5 is reading. After students are prepared for their first class, they are asked to have something to read until it is time to start the day. Students may sign out a book from our school’s library but are certainly welcome to bring books from home to read during this time.

Tuesday: Weekly Cursive Assignment due 9am (John 3:16)
Wednesday: Bible Quiz
Thursday: Math Quiz 3
Thursday: French Quiz

Have a great weekend!
