I hope and pray that you have been safe through the recent snow storm. Winter is here, and Christmas is coming! Please be checking our various social media pages for any cancelations or delays due to inclement weather. The elementary students have been preparing well for the upcoming Christmas concert, and I’m impressed with what they have been able to accomplish so far.
Christmas Service Projects
Throughout the month of December, every GCS student will participate in special community outreach projects that will allow them to move their focus from themselves to the needs of others. This year our class will be donating nonperishable food items to The Upper Room Hospitality Ministry Food Bank. The Food bank’s top 5 items needed are canned meat, canned fruit, soups, canned vegetables, and beans. Throughout this week, I would ask for students to be bringing in these items or other nonperishable foods to the class to be donated.
Classic Christmas Concert (Grade K-2)
Please join us on Thursday, December 5th from 2:30 – 3:00 for the presentation of a Classic Christmas Concert. Students in Kindergarten through Grade Two have been preparing for the Christmas season by memorizing Bible verses, singing classic Christmas carols, and playing instruments. For the performance your child is expected to be in attendance wearing the appropriate concert dress suggestions. We are going with a red, black and silver theme this year for clothing. Acceptable concert dress for boys would include a black, white, or red dress shirt, black pants with black socks and dress shoes. For the girls any combination of these colours is acceptable. For example, a black or red dress, a black/red top and black skirt/pants and black dress shoes would be acceptable as well. Accessories such as headbands, bows and ties are optional but welcomed in either red, black or silver. Please refrain from having your student wear jeans for the concert.
Christmas Musical Program (Grades 3-6)
Please mark your calendars for a second Christmas production, this time hosted by the students in Grades 3-6. Students will be performing a full-length Christmas musical titled “Rocking Royal Christmas With The King”. On Thursday, December 12 students will host two performances; a matinee beginning at 1:30pm and an evening performance at 6:30pm. For both performances your student is expected to be in attendance wearing the appropriate concert dress suggestions. We are going with a white, black and gold theme this year for clothing. Acceptable concert dress for boys would include a black/white shirt, black pants with black socks and dress shoes. For the girls any combination of these colours is acceptable. For example, a black or white dress, a black/white top and black skirt/pants and black dress shoes would be acceptable as well. Accessories such as headbands, bows and ties are optional but welcomed in either white, black or gold. Please refrain from having your student wear jeans for the concert. All students are requested to attend both performances.
