We had a great day last Wednesday running the trails with hundreds of other students from around the province. I was especially proud of the students for their positive attitudes, despite the cold and damp weather!
Now! At the risk of sounding redundant, for most of these announcements have already been made, here is what’s happening this week:
Science and Technology Week
It’s that time of year again when staff and students of GCS celebrate our Creator and the wonder of science! We have lots of activities planned for next week, including a Let’s Talk Science Presentation, a robotics demonstration, a coding and mapping activity as we prepare to navigate the Belfast Corn Maze, and a science-themed art class. Please note that Tuesday, October 16 is Dress like a STEAM Professional Day (STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math). That means that your child can come to school dressed as a person in any occupation that would use these disciplines. It is sure to be a fun-filled week of learning!
International Potluck Supper
On October 17 from 5:30 – 7:30 pm, all Grace Christian School and Grace Baptist Church families are welcome to join us for our fall potluck supper. Families that attend should bring a dish to share that will feed 6 – 8 people. If your last name begins with A – L, we ask that you bring a dessert or salad to share. If your last name begins with M – Z, please bring a main dish to share. GCS will supply the drinks and fun! There will ice-breaker games and prizes for getting to know the most new friends.
Fall Party – Trip to Belfast Corn Maze
For our annual Fall Party, grades 3-6 will be travelling by bus to Belfast Corn Maze on Thursday, October 18, leaving school at 10:00 and returning by 3:00. Students will enjoy various activities such as the corn blaster, mini tractor-bike races, an obstacle course, a bouncy pillow, ball hockey, and basketball, as well as the complicated maze itself! Please ensure the permission form and $8.00 are returned to your child’s homeroom teacher by Wednesday, October 17.
PLEASE NOTE THAT STUDENTS WILL NEED TO TAKE A LUNCH THAT DOES NOT NEED TO BE HEATED.
School Pictures
Say cheese! This Friday, students will have their picture taken by Lifetouch. These pictures are used for the school year book so students should bring their best smiles!
