Hello everybody!
The end of the school year draws nigh! Grade 3-4 has some special events planned for this week and next. Take a look at what’s coming up!
Mathletics Poster Competition
Last week some students completed posters for the Mathletics Love of Math poster competition. For interested students, I sent home a release form which needs to be signed by a parent and returned to me tomorrow so that I can submit the posters.
Bible Memory Verse
Students have been working on Matthew 22:36-40, which will be recited in Bible class on Tuesday: “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
Year-end Trip to Emmanuel Bible Camp
Just a reminder that our year-end trip is coming up on Thursday. Please have permission forms returned well in advance. Also, the canteen for the camp will be open for a short time after lunch. If students wish to purchase a treat, they can do so for $1.25.
Water Craziness
For the last hour of the day this coming Friday, we will head outside for a little of what I like to call water craziness! We’ll play some wet and wild games such as the classic Duck Duck Dunk, plus we’ll have water balloons for a nice water fight. Students should come with either a bathing suit to put on or a change of clothes and a towel. I am afraid they will not be able to participate if they forget their extras. Also, sunscreen is highly recommended! Hopefully it will warm up enough so that it will be enjoyable!
Please note that we will have to move this event to Monday, June 18, if our trip to Emmanuel is rescheduled for Friday.
Family Fun Day at Sandspit
It is that time again – Thursday, June 21st will be our annual GCS Sandspit day! The ride bracelets this year will be $12.75 per person and allow for all rides except the go karts. All parents are required to pay for their own bracelets. When purchasing bracelets, let the cashier know you are with the GCS group. Hours of operation are from 9:30am – 3:30pm. This is a great opportunity for you to come and enjoy your children and the fellowship of other parents. You are reminded that there is no supervision by GCS staff and each parent is responsible for either attending with their children or making provision for their children to be cared for.
School Closing
Please join us on Friday, June 22nd, at 9:30 AM as we celebrate the 2017-2018 school year. Several of our students will be honored throughout the ceremony for their achievements and contributions to GCS this past year. Following the ceremony, students will return to class to pick up their final report cards and will be dismissed for the summer. Please ensure that your child is picked up by 11:30 AM.
Students who cannot attend School Closing are asked to make arrangements to pick up their report cards from the office the following week, as report cards will not be given out prior to the celebration.
