Please take note of the following updates and announcements from the Gr 5/6 classroom:
Skate Days:
The students will be travelling to the APM Centre in Cornwall again this Thursday for an elementary skate. Skate times are scheduled for 1:30-2:30. Students are required to have skates, mittens, and a helmet in order to participate. Students who do not wish to participate in these skating days are asked to be picked up at the school at 12:15 on these dates.
Extra Cheer Practices:
Our GCS cheer teams are preparing to participate in the Island Cheer Expo on Sunday, March 11 at 3:00 PM. Please take note the additional practice times for this week – Tuesday from 3:00-4:30 and Thursday at lunchtime.
Heritage Fair Projects:
All students in Grade 5/6 have been ask to select their topic of choice for this year’s Heritage Fair and have been equipped with important information about how to complete this project well. Their topic selection is to be completed for Monday. Once I have approved their topics, students will be asked to complete their research paper and presentation board in time to present their projects on April 6th. The GCS Heritage Fair will be held on Monday, April 9th with six students being selected to represent our school at the Provincial Heritage Fair in May.
While some research and writing may be completed during class time, the majority of this project will be completed at home.
