Hello Kindergarten Families.

Tomorrow is picture retake day if you were unhappy with your child’s school photos. Please send me an email if you wish your child to be included.

We have been putting word families together to read 3 letter words: hen, pen, den; wig, pig, dig etc.

In our math skills, we have learned about the teen family and what clues we are to watch for.

We have been learning about co-operation with our reading buddies and how to understand how to use co-operation in our daily lives. It has been very special to watch your children grow in this area. They are so precious.

Christmas Outreach Project

As we prepare to celebrate the Christmas season, GCS is so thankful to have another opportunity to bless others in our community.  This year, we will once again give back to the residents living at Prince Edward Home by collaboratively purchasing gifts for them to open on Christmas morning.

This year our class is responsible for collecting socks/diabetic socks and slippers for adults. If you can contribute, items should be delivered to our classroom before December 8th.

Cooler Temperatures

As we experience more winter-like temperatures and weather conditions, please remind your children to come prepared for the outdoors. Students are encouraged to have a warm hat and mittens in their backpacks every day and to come dressed in a warm jacket and pants. Snow pants and winter boots will also help your children stay warm and dry as we enjoy the winter weather and fun in the snow.

For students who arrive prior to 8:45 AM, please note that students will not be permitted to go inside the school to gather their winter gear. Please arrive dressed for the winter conditions.

Elementary Christmas Production:

We are very excited to announce that we are in the beginning stages of preparing our annual Christmas presentation. The elementary students have been reading through scripts and learning songs in class the last few weeks. This year we will be presenting “Christmas at Bethlehem Gulch” a children’s musical with a western feel about the coming of the Saviour written by Pam Andrews.

We are anticipating a live, in-house, concert as we have done in years past. The musical has an “Old West” theme, and we will need a few items brought in for concert dress. All students are required to bring in a pair of dark or light jeans and a multi-coloured plaid shirt. Junior and Senior Kindergarten are asked to wear these clothes to school for the day. No need to send them in early.

The afternoon matinee will begin at 1:30 on December 8th. Kindergarten students will not be preforming at the evening show.

Dates to Remember:

Monday, November 28th – Picture Retakes
Thursday, December 1st – PD Day (No School)
Thursday, December 8th – Elementary Christmas Program (1:30 PM and 6:30 PM)

Looking forward to another great week in kindergarten.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Laura Perry
