Hello Families of GCS Kindergarten,
I hope you have enjoyed your weekend. The weather has been beautiful!
It was nice to see so many of you able to make it out to our Carnival this year! I believe everyone had a splendid time.
For easy communication between school and home, please connect to our blog that is posted every week containing the next weeks adventures. Also, there is an option to have school messages sent to your text. That can be very helpful incase of school closures etc.
There is an icon called Explore GCS on the left of our HOME page. Select this icon, then select NEWS. The NEWS button will lead you to our classroom blogs where you can read our weekly newsletter. For your child, you will select Kindergarten.
Once there, you will see on the right of the page, (opposite this sentence a bright yellow SUBSCRIBE button) sign up so the letter will go directly to your email and you won’t need to search again for the information. You will receive a confirmation request.
** Please look for this in your email and agree that you want to receive this blog post.
If you don’t get a request from us, please check the spelling of your email. You should be all set.
Full week of school.
This will be our first full week of school and your child’s teachers have many fun things planned.
The children vote on a science topic and they chose to investigate paleontology.
For community helpers they chose to investigate a veterinarian.
In our phonics class we have learned the vowels I, U & E.
The children learn the name, sound and picture reference for each letter.
In number class, we have learned to recognize 1-5.
This Friday, we will have a show and tell time where your child can bring in a photo or a drawing of something they experienced with their family this summer. Perhaps they went on a family vacation, went to the beach, painted their bedroom, went to the library. Feel free to email me the photo and I can show the class while your child says one or two lines about the experience.
Milk / Lunch Program
As in previous years, GCS will be offering a milk program for elementary students and a lunch program for the entire school. We are currently in the process of implementing an online ordering and payment platform that will be used for the milk and lunch programs. This new platform will be available to school families in early October. Additional information regarding this new platform will be sent out in the next few weeks. Until then, we appreciate your patience as we prepare this new and more efficient option for our milk and lunch programs.
Scrip Program
Scrip is Grace Christian School’s simple fundraising program using gift cards from popular retailers. The school purchases these gift cards at a discount and resells them to parents for the face value of the card. Families will earn back the difference of the purchase (to a specified amount) to be returned to that family in June in the form of their choice of gift cards, tuition bursary, donation to GCS staff, or donation to GCS Plant a Seed Fund. Please remember to stop by the GCS Armoury just inside the new school atrium to purchase your gift cards.

Mrs. Laura Perry
